Sukekiyo
Japanese rock supergroup formed by Dir En Grey's Kyo.
Sukekiyo (also written as sukekiyo or スケキヨ) is a Japanese rock group that started in 2013. It was put together by Kyo, the singer of Dir En Grey. Because every musician in the band has played in other well-known visual kei acts, people sometimes call it a supergroup—though other members also perform in other bands (e.g., Takumi in The Novembers, Uta in The Novembers, Yuchi in The Novembers, Mika in various projects). The name comes from Seishi Yokomizo's novel *The Inugami Clan*.
Kyo formed Sukekiyo as a side project with members from other Japanese rock bands. Since Dir En Grey remains his main focus, Sukekiyo works in separate periods. In November 2014, the band announced a mini-album called *Vitium*, which had eight new songs and came out on February 4, 2015. The limited edition included a second disc with collaborations from X Japan vocalist Toshi and actor Hiroshi Mikami. On June 21, 2017, they released their second full album, *Adoratio*. Daniel Ash, guitarist for the goth rock band Bauhaus, contributed an exclusive remix of the track "maneira" on the second disc. That same year, for the Mucc tribute album *Tribute of Mucc -En-* (released November 22), Sukekiyo covered the song "Gerbera."
The band's members are Kyo (vocals, programming; also in Dir En Grey and Petit Brabancon), Takumi (guitar, piano; formerly of Rentrer en Soi and a manipulator for Dir En Grey; also in The Novembers), Uta (guitar; formerly of 9Goats Black Out; also in The Novembers), Yuchi (bass; formerly of Kannivalism and Wing Works; also in The Novembers), and Mika (drums; formerly of Rentrer en Soi and Forbidden Days Rhapsody; also in various projects).
Sukekiyo has released four studio albums: *Immortalis* (2014), *Adoratio* (2017), *Infinitum* (2019), and *Erosio* (2023). They have one EP, *Vitium* (2015). Their singles include "The Daemon's Cutlery" (2013), "sukekiyo 二〇十四年公演「別れを惜しむフリは貴方の為」" (2014), "耳ゾゾ" (2015), "Anima" (2016), "黝いヒステリア" (2017), "こうも違うモノなのか、要するに (1 Shot Analog Recording -Demo Ver. 20171121-)" (2018), "Kisses" (2018), "Salus" (2021), "Amor" (2022), and "possess" (2026). They also put out demo tapes: "接触" (2020), "夢見ドロ" (2021), "触れさせる" (2021), "Valentina" (2021), and "愛した心臓" (2021).
