Gameplay

The game has one main mode where players choose from 20 tracks and follow on-screen dancers using the Wii Remote or up to two PlayStation Move controllers. Up to four players on Wii or two on PS3 can participate. Most songs have all players performing the same moves, but some assign individual steps to certain players, indicated by different-colored silhouettes and dancers. Scoring is based on how closely actions match the on-screen movements and on consecutive successful moves, using the same judgement system as the original Just Dance. A progress bar shows points during the song, and a winner is revealed at the end.

Reception

The Wii version received generally unfavorable reviews, with a Metacritic score of 48 out of 100. The Observer called the 20-song lineup disappointing and noted that the Wii version's motion-tracking fails miserably, but conceded this flaw does not detract from the fun. GameFocus criticized the absence of a career mode, saying the console version lacks a sense of progression or accomplishment, but called it easy to pick up for younger players. The Daily Telegraph gave the Wii version six out of ten, stating the controls were a little ropy and depth severely lacking, but not concerns for the target audience, and praised its tremendous entertainment value. The Guardian gave it two stars out of five, saying it will appeal to fans of Just Dance, show tunes, and games that provide an excuse to move around the front room, with lyrics displayed for singing along, providing cheap giggles as a party game. Common Sense Media gave the same version two stars out of five, noting it celebrates Broadway music but is not a worthwhile gaming experience.
