Dream Gu
Weave nightmares into reality and shatter the mind before the body ever falls.
Dream Gu represents a specialized category of spiritual insects that manipulate the subconscious, illusions, and the very state of consciousness itself. Unlike physical combat Gu that shatter bones or burn flesh, Dream Gu operate within the ethereal realm of the mind, allowing cultivators to induce slumber, craft elaborate hallucinations, or trap enemies in endless nightmares where their souls can be harvested or destroyed without a trace.

Lore & Background
The refinement and usage of Dream Gu require immense mental fortitude. The cultivator must maintain absolute control over their own consciousness while navigating the chaotic landscapes they create for others. History is littered with tales of powerful masters who became trapped in their own creations, losing their grip on reality forever. These insects are often sought by assassins who wish to eliminate targets without leaving a corpse, or by scholars seeking to extract secrets from guarded minds through hypnotic suggestion.
Reader's Guide
Dream Gu function by directly interfacing with an opponent's spiritual sense, bypassing physical barriers like armor or defensive formations. Their rarity varies significantly; basic sleep-inducing variants are common in lower-tier markets, while high-grade illusionary Dream Gu capable of trapping soul fragments are exceedingly rare and often guarded by powerful sects. Refining these insects demands a profound understanding of the mind's architecture and significant spiritual energy to sustain complex illusions. The cost is not just material but mental; prolonged use can blur the user's perception of reality, making it difficult to distinguish their own thoughts from those they have projected onto others. Strategically, Dream Gu are invaluable for interrogation, stealthy assassination, or disabling high-level enemies who possess overwhelming physical strength. In daily life, lower-grade variants serve as tools for meditation enhancement or safe travel through dangerous territories by masking the cultivator's presence in the minds of beasts and guards.
