Helios Corporation

Lore & Background

Helios is the ASTRA Corporation ship piloted by Selene Vassos. Selene "disobeying orders" attempts to land on Atropos to investigate the "White Shadow" signal. Upon arrival, "Selene's ship, Helios, suffers heavy damage and crash lands." This crash is the inciting incident that traps Selene in the time loop.

The ship's wreckage is a recurring landmark on Atropos, marking the starting point of each loop. The source also reveals a paradoxical twist: "Selene eventually learns that she apparently used an alien weapon to paradoxically shoot down her own ship, thus making herself responsible for her being marooned on Atropos." This means Helios was destroyed by Selene's own actions, creating a causal loop. The name "Helios" carries emotional weight, as Selene cries it out at the end of the game after swimming to the surface from the underwater abyss.

A vision of "a middle-aged woman... driving through a forest at night with a young child in the back seat" and later notes that the child is named Helios, linking the ship's name to a personal tragedy.

Reader's Guide

Helios is not a corporation but Selene's ship. It is the vessel that brings her to Atropos and is destroyed upon arrival. A key plot point is that Selene "used an alien weapon to paradoxically shoot down her own ship." The name "Helios" is also the name of the child in the car crash vision, linking the ship to Selene's past. The game ends with Selene crying out "Helios" as she swims to the surface.
