Description
El Borracho serves burritos, burrito bowls, and tacos. After switching to a plant-based menu, Impossible Burger and seitan replaced beef and carne asada, with tofu, "chikin", and "shrymp" also used. Soy- and dairy-free cheeses and dressings are offered. The restaurant features discounted tacos and margaritas during happy hour, plus Halloween specials.
History
El Borracho first opened at Seattle's Pike Place Market. In 2013, owner Kittie Davidovich planned a Ballard expansion, which launched in February 2014. That same year, the market location's sign was stolen; Davidovich promised a $100 bar tab and a limo ride for its safe return. All three spots shut down during the pandemic. The Pike Place site resumed with curbside patio service in 2021. By mid-2021, every location switched to an all-plant-based menu. The Ballard branch closed in 2022. The business still runs at Pike Place Market and in Tacoma.
