History

Pizza Salvatoré began in 1964 when Italian immigrant Salvatore Abbatiello and his wife Angèle Fecteau opened their first pizzeria in Saint-Georges, Quebec. By 2018, the chain had just 13 locations before five of Abbatiello’s grandchildren took over, aiming to grow into Ontario and New Brunswick. The company sold frozen pizzas in supermarkets from September 2023 to April 2024, then exited that market. On March 1, 2025, co-president Guillaume Jr Abbatiello stirred controversy after a radio interview, later apologizing.

Disputes

Pizza Salvatoré has faced disputes over phone numbers resembling those of competitors. In 2021, its Drummondville restaurant received a formal notice from Pizza Pizza for a phone number ending in 1111, similar to Pizza Pizza's restaurants. In 2022, a local pizza chain accused the Trois-Rivières location of having a phone number ending in 7777, like its own four restaurants; the case went to court.
