Last updated

The label saw a major rise in fame in early 2007 when several of its artists achieved mainstream success.[1] Pedro Winter founded the electronic music label Ed Banger Records.[2]

Key facts and history

Pedro Winter founded the label and remains its head.[2] That single entered the UK charts at number 20.[1] In July 2013, Ed Banger released a limited-edition skateboard deck collection with Girl Skateboards.[3][4] The collection celebrated the label's tenth anniversary and Girl Skateboards' 20th anniversary.[3][4]

For the anniversary, Pedro Winter organized a concert on 31 March 2018 at the Grand Rex.[5][2] The concert featured a 70-musician symphony orchestra performing covers of the label's tracks.[5][2] At the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, the video for Justice's version of "Never Be Alone" received the Best Video award.[1] The skateboard deck designs were based on the work of Mr. Oizo, Breakbot, Justice, Sebastian, and Busy P.[3][4]

Ed Banger reached its 15-year milestone in 2018.[5][2]

What the cited sources add

A France Inter radio program from March 2018 confirms that Pedro Winter, Breakbot, MYD, and conductor Thomas Roussel participated in the 15th-anniversary broadcast.[2] The same source states the anniversary concert used no electronic machines on stage.[2] A Hypebeast article from July 2013 specifies that the skateboard decks featured custom artwork for skaters Eric Koston, Guy Mariano, Sean Malto, Mike Carroll, and Rick Howard.[4] That article also notes Sean Malto's video part was remixed with music by Justice and Mr. Oizo.[4]
