Raum was born in Nuremberg and started playing football at Tuspo Nürnberg at age four. At eight, he joined the youth academy of SpVgg Greuther Fürth. He made his senior debut in the 2017–18 2. Bundesliga season. After helping Greuther Fürth win promotion to the Bundesliga in 2020–21, he moved to TSG Hoffenheim as a free agent. On 31 July 2022, he joined RB Leipzig on a five-year deal. He scored his first Champions League goal on 25 October 2023. He debuted for the senior Germany national team on 5 September 2021 and was part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad. He scored his first international goal on 10 October 2025.
