History
The club was founded on 10 June 1896 as FV Olympia and became a founding member of the German Football Association in Leipzig in 1900. In 1903 it merged with FC Lipsia, also a founding member, to form Neuer Leipziger Ballspielverein Olympia, later shortened to Ballspielverein Olympia. Over the rest of the century the club underwent numerous mergers and name changes. It was briefly united with Leipziger BC 1883 in 1917 as the wartime side SG LBC Olympia 1896, re-emerging after World War I in 1918 as BV Olympia. In 1926 it played as BSV Olympia-Germania until renamed VfL Olympia 96 in 1938. After World War II, Allied authorities ordered the dissolution of existing organizations; in fall 1945 new clubs were allowed, and the team re-formed as ZSG Industrie-Mitte. In the Soviet-occupied part of Germany that became East Germany, the club underwent frequent name changes: Fahrzeugbau Leipzig-Mitte (1947), BSG Gohlis-Süd (1948), BSG Lok Nord (1951), and after merging with BSG Motor Gohlis in 1961, BSG Motor Nord. After German reunification in 1990 it was registered as SV Motor Leipzig-Nord e.V., then merged with VfL 1977 Leipzig in 1999 to become SG Olympia Leipzig. The club has played in local amateur football, competing in the tier nine Stadtklasse Leipzig until 2015, when it was promoted to the Stadtliga for a season and suffered instant relegation.
