Lore & Background
In 2010, the BCCI decided to expel Rajasthan Royals from the IPL. The expulsion baffled captain Shane Warne, who suspected foul play. The Royals filed an appeal in the Bombay High Court, which adjourned the case. Later, the Royals told the court they would negotiate with an arbitrator. The arbitrator announced that while the investigation was ongoing, the Royals would remain in the IPL for six weeks, and the BCCI could not change rules against them. The Bombay High Court rejected the BCCI's appeal against keeping the Royals in the IPL for six weeks. Due to losses in court and reputational damage, the BCCI decided not to pursue further legal action, and the Royals were allowed to remain in the IPL.
