LoveFab Enviate
A Pikes Peak contender built from NSX and LS V8 components.
The LoveFab Enviate is a racing car built by the LoveFab Race Team for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Did You Know?
- The name Enviate comes from modified pronunciations of the letters N and V, and the number 8, referencing the NSX and V8 engine.
- The Enviate Hypercar's downforce of 4,536 kg at 150 mph is the second highest ever made for a racing car, behind the Red Bull RB6's 5,500 kg.
- The Enviate v1.0 was destroyed in a crash in 2013, but its core remained intact, allowing development of the new Enviate Hypercar.
Overview
The Enviate v1.0 was built using first-generation Honda NSX components and an LS-based 6-liter dry-sump-lubricated V8 with Garrett twin-turbochargers, producing approximately 1,000 hp. Its body incorporated NSX parts and lightweight material. After minimal testing, the car was destroyed in a crash the same year. The replacement Enviate Hypercar was a ground-up build using a 5.3-liter twin-turbocharged LS V8 producing over 1,200 hp and 1,000 lbft, with F1 engineers involved. It weighs about 816.5 kg and uses a Porsche H-type gearbox and double A-armed pushrod suspension. The aerodynamic package, developed by Affinity Aero using F1-level CFD, generates 3,000 kg of downforce at 100 mph and 4,536 kg at 150 mph, the second-highest downforce ever for a racing car behind the Red Bull RB6. Carbon disc brakes are used, stronger than carbon ceramic brakes.
