Kosodate Quiz: My Angel
Quiz-based life simulation raising a daughter from infancy to adulthood.
Kosodate Quiz: My Angel is a series of coming-of-age quiz games made and published by Namco. The first game, also called Kosodate Quiz: My Angel, hit arcades in 1996 and got a PlayStation port in 1998. The latest title, Uno no Tatsujin: Hirameki Kosodate My Angel, came out for the Nintendo DS in 2007.
In the game, players take on the roles of a mother and father, answering questions to raise their daughter from birth to age 25. Each round presents a question with four possible answers. A correct answer boosts the player's "child support expenses" funds, and extra funds are earned by hitting a target number of correct answers without any mistakes. After all questions in a stage are answered, the player moves on. A wrong answer drains the life meter, and if it empties, the game ends. Clearing a stage triggers an event based on the daughter's personality, which itself depends on the player's performance in the previous stage. Personalities include "Gentle," "Sexy," "Cool," and "Cheerful."
Besides normal stages, a "test stage" may occur when the daughter applies to kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school, vocational school, or university. The player must answer a set number of questions correctly to get in, and that number rises with each later test. Once the daughter turns 25, a final "extra stage" appears; earning 6,000 yen here is needed for the best ending.
Sequels include Kosodate Quiz: My Angel 2 (1997), Kosodate Quiz: My Angel 3: My Little Pet (1998), the spin-off Derby Quiz: My Dream Horse (1997), Kosodate Quiz: More My Angel (1999), Kosodate Quiz Everywhere: My Angel (1999), and Unō no Tatsujin: Hirameki Kosodate My Angel (2007).

Lore & Background
In Kosodate Quiz: My Angel, the player takes on the role of both a mother and a father, answering questions to raise their daughter's age from 0 to 25. Each round presents a question with four possible answers; a correct answer increases the player's child support expenses funds, while an incorrect answer depletes a life meter. If the life meter empties, the game ends. Clearing a stage triggers an event based on the daughter's personality, which is determined by the player's performance in the previous stage. Reader's Guide
The Kosodate Quiz: My Angel series represents a unique blend of quiz mechanics and life simulation, a concept that was relatively novel for its time. The first game's arcade release in 1996 and subsequent PlayStation port helped establish a niche audience. The series expanded with multiple sequels and a spin-off, Derby Quiz: My Dream Horse, released in 1998. The latest entry, Uno no Tatsujin: Hirameki Kosodate My Angel, arrived on the Nintendo DS in 2006. While the series did not achieve mainstream global recognition, it is remembered for its quirky premise and the way it integrated player performance into the narrative of raising a child. Its legacy lies in its experimental approach to the quiz genre, influencing later games that combine trivia with character development.
