Gameplay

Players may take on the role of any member of the Mystery Inc. gang except Scooby-Doo, who instead assists each character from time to time. The park is divided into nine themed sections, such as a Ferris wheel or a roller coaster, and players wander these areas looking for clues to identify the culprit. Neighbors and employees with motives for wanting the park closed also appear; for example, a banker wants to build a shopping mall on the site, and a neighboring farmer wishes to expand his farmland. Players can collect trap pieces—one rare piece and two common pieces per trap—to capture the suspect, with each trap tailored to one of the nine areas. Scooby Snacks are scattered throughout the park and can be used to coax Scooby into baiting a trap, assign a Wheel of Chaos spin for other players, or spin the Wheel of Fun for oneself. A minimum of two gang members must participate; a single player can assign the computer to play an opposing character. Turns proceed in hotseat fashion, with each player receiving three action points per turn. Picking up a clue or Scooby Snack costs one point, moving between areas costs all three, and using a manhole shortcut to a random area costs two points; walking within an area costs nothing.

Plot

The Mystery Inc. gang becomes stranded near an old farmhouse beside an apparently abandoned amusement park. The Gobs, who live in the farmhouse, own the adjacent park, Gobs O' Fun, but a phantom is haunting it and scaring away customers, pushing the family toward bankruptcy. The gang agrees to find the culprit in exchange for help repairing their van.
