Making and release

Thornhill signed with the independent label UNFD in early 2018.[2] Thornhill's first studio album, The Dark Pool, came out on 25 October 2019 under UNFD.[3] The album was entirely self-produced by the band.[4] On 2 June 2016, Thornhill put out their debut single "XY", which featured Jack Bergin from Void of Vision.[5]

The debut EP from Thornhill, titled 13, came out in August 2016.[5] Thornhill's second EP, Butterfly, was released under the UNFD label on 16 February 2018.[3]

What the cited sources add

The Kingstar agency profile describes The Dark Pool as a "mammoth debut full-length" that emerged from 18 months of refining the band's artistry.[4] The same source quotes the band saying they never want to be pigeonholed into a genre.[4] An NME article reports that Thornhill cancelled a 29-date UK/Europe tour in September 2022, citing mental burnout.[6] That article also notes that guitarist Matt van Duppen stepped aside from touring to focus on band management.[6]

Another NME article states that in January 2023 the band's rehearsal space was broken into and nearly $100,000 in gear was stolen.[7] A GoFundMe campaign was started by the band to raise money for replacing the gear that was stolen.[7]
