Cataplana

A Portuguese cookware and seafood dish from the Algarve.

A cataplana is both a cooking vessel and a dish from the Algarve region of Portugal. The copper or aluminium cookware, shaped like two hinged clamshells, can be sealed to steam ingredients. The most famous version is amêijoas na cataplana (clams in cataplana), though prawn, clam, and pork cataplanas are also popular.
