History
Igor Matviyenko, a music producer and composer at SPM Record, conceived Lyube in 1988. The band's name was suggested by Rastorguyev. Their first compilation, "We will now live a new way", appeared in 1990. The debut LP "Atas" followed in 1991, featuring songs including "Bat'ko Makhno", "Taganskaya station", "Don't destroy, you men", and "Lyubertsy". That year, the first music video was filmed in Sochi for "Don't play the fool, America!". The second album, "Who said that we lived badly...?", released in 1992, was recorded at the Moscow Palace of Youth and Stas Namin's Studio, with mastering in Munich, Germany; hits included "Come, let's play", "Don't play the fool, America!", "Rabbit fur", "Tram five", and "Old Noble". Around this time, Aleksandr Vaynberg and Oleg Zenin left. The third album, "Lyube Zone", took two years to complete. In 1995, the band recorded the military-themed song "Kombat" about World War II. Rastorguyev became a Recognized Artist of the Russian Federation in 1997. In early 1998, Lyube performed at a concert for Vladimir Vysotsky, covering "On soldiers' mass graves" and "Song about stars". On Victory Day 2001, they played live in Red Square; that year, President Vladimir Putin appointed Rastorguyev as Cultural Advisor to the Russian government.
