Gameplay
Matches in Omega Strikers are played from a top-down perspective with the entire playfield visible. Two teams of three players compete to send the Core, a large hockey puck, into the opponent's goal. Each Striker has unique abilities for attacking, moving the Core, buffing allies, or debuffing enemies. Damage reduces a character's stagger bar; at zero, opponents can knock them off the field temporarily. Experience points earned through goals, knockouts, and saves power up strikers, and awakenings provide additional upgrades.
Development
Omega Strikers was developed and published by Waterloo-based Odyssey Interactive, a studio formed by former Riot Games staff. A Steam-exclusive closed beta began on September 16, 2022, followed by an open beta. On November 3, 2023, Odyssey Interactive announced that content updates would wind down by year's end due to high player turnover and inability to grow the game, with development shifting to a new battle royale game titled Byte Breakers.
