Reception
The PlayStation versions of Hard Rock Casino received generally unfavorable reviews according to Metacritic. Critics found the gambling games simple and repetitive; Rob Fahey of Eurogamer remarked that none of the games were particularly fun to play, and some required only a single button press. The graphical user interface was compared unfavorably to a flash game. IGN's Chris Roper called it a poor attempt at a decent idea, citing a lack of instructions in the manual and in-game career mode, with instructions only accessible from the main menu. Mark Walbank of Pocket Gamer, reviewing the PSP version, stated the game could not replicate a real casino's feeling and felt flat and functional. Louis Bedigian of GameZone praised the PSP version's graphics and wrote that it was presented and implemented more efficiently than any other casino game collection, noting the games were simple, random fun with high replay value. Levi Buchanan of IGN praised the mobile version's graphics but said better versions of each game existed elsewhere. Carrie Venetia of GameSpot was disappointed by the minimal casino sound effects in the mobile version, calling it a wonderful value but very straightforward and unlikely to surprise or impress.
