Mag Mell
A Celtic Otherworld of eternal youth and delight.
In Irish mythology, Mag Mell, also spelled Magh Meall and meaning "delightful plain," is a name for the Celtic Otherworld. It is a paradise reached through death or glory, existing as either an island west of Ireland or a kingdom under the sea. Unlike a typical underworld, it is a place without sickness or death, filled with eternal youth, beauty, music, and pleasure. Its ruler is usually the sea god Manannán mac Lir, or sometimes the Fomorian king Tethra. Mortal heroes and monks, such as St. Brendan, Bran mac Febal, and the voyagers of Máel Dúin, visited this realm in legendary tales.
