Heath Miller

Earl Heath Miller Jr. (born October 22, 1982) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons from 2005 to 2015. Miller played college football for the Virginia Cavaliers, earning unanimous All-American honors and winning the John Mackey Award. The Steelers selected him in the first round with the 30th overall pick of the 2005 NFL draft.

Miller was born in Richlands, Virginia, and attended Honaker High School, where he played quarterback and earned the Associated Press Player of the Year honor as a senior. He set several school records in passing and led the team to its first state championship game his senior year, which they lost. In college at Virginia, he transitioned from quarterback to tight end during his redshirt freshman year. He set ACC records for most career receptions (144), yards (1,703), and touchdowns (20) by a tight end, and won the John Mackey Award in 2004. He skipped his senior season to enter the 2005 NFL draft. In his rookie season with the Steelers, he earned his first Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XL.
