The soundtrack for the 2020 film *Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe* came out on August 28, 2020, the same day the movie premiered on Disney+. It includes original songs performed by the cast, plus a few pieces from the score by Danny Jacob, who also composed music for the TV series.
During the 2019 D23 Expo, creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh said the film would have nine or ten original songs. Recording started in November 2019 but was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing some music to be recorded remotely at home using iTunes and FaceTime. In May 2020, Povenmire and Marsh revealed that Karey Kirkpatrick and Kate Micucci wrote new songs for the film, and in July, Emanuel Kiriakou announced he co-wrote a song with Povenmire. Danny Jacob was confirmed as the film's composer that same month.
A single, "Such a Beautiful Day," written by Povenmire and Kirkpatrick and sung by Ashley Tisdale as Candace, was released at the virtual Comic-Con@Home event on July 24, 2020. It was added late in production because the filmmakers felt the original opening—where Candace tries to bust her brothers—was "too harsh" for viewers unfamiliar with the series. A second single, "We're Back," written by Povenmire and Marsh and sung by Phineas, Candace, and Doofenshmirtz, came out on August 14, 2020.
The album, released by Walt Disney Records, features 11 original songs, plus "Space Adventure" from the original show and "Chop Away at My Heart" from *Milo Murphy's Law* (heard briefly as gags), along with four score cues by Jacob.
Alex Reif of *Laughing Place* wrote that the soundtrack "stay true to the spirit of the show while giving fans something new, fresh, and catchy." Navein Darshan of *Cinema Express* said he was "pleasantly surprised by the effective usage of songs" and noted that "the hilarious lyrics and the catchy tunes keep any restlessness at bay."
