Dyesebel
Filipino comic mermaid who gained human form through a sea-witch.
Mars Ravelo created the mermaid Dyesebel, with art by Elpidio Torres. She trades with a sea-witch to become fully human. The character appeared in Pilipino Komiks and later Kampeon Komiks in 1975. Five films and a spin-off were made between 1953 and 1996.

Adaptations
The first television series adaptation of Dyesebel aired on GMA Network in 2008, running 125 episodes from April 28 to October 17, 2008. It starred Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes in lead roles and was broadcast internationally on GMA Pinoy TV. In 2022, comedian Ogie Diaz confirmed that Andrea Brillantes would play Dyesebel in an upcoming ABS-CBN series, with Francine Diaz as the antagonist Betty.

In films, Dyesebel was portrayed by Edna Luna, Vilma Santos, Alma Moreno, Alice Dixson, and Charlene Gonzales. On television, Marian Rivera played the role in 2008 and Anne Curtis in 2014. Ara Mina made a cameo appearance as Dyesebel on Mars Ravelo's Darna (2005 TV series). Young Dyesebel was played by Carissa (1978), Carmina Villarroel (1990), Charina Scott (1996), Kirsten Jane Sigrist (2008), and Ashley Sarmiento (2014). Young Fredo was portrayed by Robert Ortega (1990), Arkin Luciano Magalona (2008), and Giacobbe Whitworth (2014). Kazumi Porquez played young Betty in the 2014 series.
