Brec Bassinger is an American actress who began her career as a teenager. Early life

Brec Bassinger came into the world on May 25, 1999, in Saginaw, Texas, and grew up with two older brothers, Beric and Brice. Before her acting career, she was a competitive cheerleader and also played basketball, volleyball, and ran track. She took part in beauty pageants, winning the Our Little Miss World title. At age eight, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Since then, she has worked as an ambassador for Breakthrough T1D, pushing for greater awareness, research funding, and lower insulin costs.

Career

Brec Bassinger’s first acting credit came in 2013, when she appeared as Emma on the Nickelodeon sitcom The Haunted Hathaways. A year later, she landed the lead role of Bella on the Nickelodeon comedy series Bella and the Bulldogs, which aired for two seasons before Bassinger announced its cancellation. In 2016, she joined the cast of the direct-to-video teen comedy Status Update, which came out in 2018. That same year, she played Roni on the Hulu series All Night and was cast as Courtney Whitmore, also known as Stargirl, on The CW series Stargirl. Creator Geoff Johns chose Bassinger for the part, praising her humor, enthusiasm, and optimism. The show debuted on DC Universe and The CW in May 2020, ran for three seasons, and earned critical acclaim. Bassinger won two Saturn Awards for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series from three nominations. In 2019, she made her feature film debut in the survival horror 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, which grossed $47 million to mixed reviews. She next starred in the independent thriller The Man in the White Van (2023), also met with mixed reviews. Her role in Final Destination Bloodlines, the sixth franchise installment, was released on May 16, 2025, becoming the best-reviewed film in the series and earning over $305 million worldwide.
