A seer who saw the darkness coming before the Vaal drew their final breath.

The Blind Prophet is a historical figure referenced within the ancient lore of Wraeclast, specifically tied to the rise and fall of the Vaal civilization. Unlike active quest givers found in the main campaign, this entity exists primarily through fragmented texts and oral histories discovered by exiles exploring ruined temples. They are remembered as one of the few seers who foresaw the catastrophic corruption that would eventually consume their people.
Lore & Background
The legacy of this figure is preserved in scattered tablets found within deep underground ruins. These texts describe a solemn warning regarding the manipulation of souls and the summoning of ancient horrors. While not an active participant in the current timeline of Wraeclast, their prophecies echo through the actions of modern factions like the Vaal cultists who still attempt to replicate forbidden rituals. The Blind Prophet represents the tragic wisdom that was lost when ambition overtook caution.
Reader's Guide
The Blind Prophet serves as a cautionary figure in Path of Exile lore rather than an interactive NPC. Their role is that of a tragic historian who foresaw the downfall of their civilization due to hubris and forbidden magic. They possess no combat skills or active powers, but are associated with the Vaal's spiritual connection to prophecy and soul manipulation. Their defining moment was the failed attempt to warn the Vaal leadership against the corruption that would seal their fate. Players encounter references to this figure through lore books and item descriptions rather than direct interaction. Understanding their story provides context for why certain Vaal mechanics, like the Blight or Soul manipulation, carry such heavy consequences in the world of Wraeclast.
