Night Fishing (Korean title: 파란만장, meaning "Ups and Downs" or "A Checkered Past") is a 2011 South Korean fantasy-horror short film. It was directed, produced, and written by PARKing CHANce, a joint brand used by the brothers Park Chan-wook and Park Chan-kyong. The lead role is played by K-pop singer Lee Jung-hyun.
The film was shot entirely on an iPhone 4. KT, the exclusive South Korean distributor of the iPhone at the time, provided financial support of 150 million Korean won (about US$133,447). It was shown to over 100 reporters on January 11, 2011, and released to the public on January 27. At the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, it won the Golden Bear for Best Short Film.
**Plot** A man sets up for a fishing trip by the water. As evening falls, he pulls up a woman’s body on his line. While trying to free himself from the tangled fishing lines, she comes back to life. The scene shifts: the woman is now a shaman conducting a funeral ritual for the same man, who drowned in a river. Through her, he speaks to his relatives and asks for their forgiveness.
