Ramalho managed Palmeiras from July 22, 2009, to February 18, 2010, when he was fired after a 1–4 defeat against São Caetano. He won no titles with Palmeiras. His major titles as a manager include three consecutive Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles with São Paulo (2006, 2007, 2008) and one with Fluminense (2010). He also led Santos to the 2011 Copa Libertadores title and the 2012 Recopa Sudamericana.
