Palmeiras is a Brazilian professional football club based in São Paulo, founded by Italian immigrants on 26 August 1914 as Palestra Itália. It changed its name on 14 September 1942 due to World War II. The club has won 18 top-tier national competitions, including a record 12 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles, and has also won the Copa Libertadores in 1999, 2020, and 2021.
