Playing career
Véronneau played junior 'A' ice hockey in Ottawa with the Gloucester Rangers before entering Princeton University in 2015. In his junior year of 2017–18, he placed second in NCAA Division 1 scoring with 17 goals and 38 assists for 55 points in 36 games. He attended the Vegas Golden Knights' development camp in 2017. After four seasons at Princeton, he was regarded as one of the top NCAA free agents and signed a two-year entry-level contract with his hometown Senators in March 2019. He made his NHL debut on March 14, 2019, against the St. Louis Blues, was named the third star of the game, and finished his first season with two goals and four points in 12 games. At the start of the 2019–20 season, he was assigned to the AHL's Belleville Senators. He struggled there but was recalled on November 18, 2019, then sent back to Belleville on November 28 after four games with Ottawa. On February 19, 2020, he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Aaron Luchuk and a conditional sixth-round draft pick. He played only three regular season games with the AHL's Toronto Marlies before the season was abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a free agent from the Maple Leafs, with the 2020–21 North American season delayed, he signed his first contract abroad with Swedish club IK Oskarshamn of the SHL on December 21, 2020. He regained his offensive confidence there, scoring 12 goals in 25 regular season games. On April 21, 2021, he transferred to fellow SHL club Leksands IF on a two-year contract. In the 2021–22 season, he established himself as one of the top offensive players in the SHL, signed a one-year extension through 2024 on November 20, 2021, and completed the season leading the league with 34 goals in 51 games, earning the SHL's most valuable player award.
