Nam Su-hyeon is the second of three children from Suncheon. She began practicing archery at a young age and started full training by her third year of elementary school. She won a national fifth grade title in 2016. In 2020, she won the National Championships and the Hwaranggi National Competition, and was selected for the youth national team, though she did not compete internationally due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, she earned a silver medal in the team event at the national championship and two silver medals (individual and team) at the National Sports Festival. She graduated from Suncheon Girls' High School in 2024.

Nam placed third at the 2024 Korean Olympic trials, securing her spot in both the individual and team events for the 2024 Summer Olympics. At the 2024 Archery World Cup, she helped her team win a gold medal but did not advance in the individual event. At the Olympics, she placed second in the individual ranking round with 688 points, behind Lim Si-hyeon, who set the world record.
