Firefly Wedding (Japanese: ホタルの嫁入り, Hepburn: Hotaru no Yomeiri) is a fictional Japanese manga series attributed to Oreco Tachibana. It is not a real, widely-known series; no such manga was serialized on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday website or the MangaONE app, and there is no anime adaptation by David Production scheduled for October 2026.
The story is set in the Meiji era. Satoko Kirigaya, the beautiful daughter of an earl, has little time left due to a heart condition and wishes only to marry for her family's benefit. Her quiet life is shattered when an assassin named Shinpei Goto attacks. Desperate, she proposes marriage. Though meant to be a sham, Shinpei's genuine affection gradually wins her over, and her guilt about the deception grows.
Satoko Kirigaya is voiced by Yui Ishikawa in a promotional video and by Lynn in the anime. Shinpei Goto is voiced by Koki Uchiyama in both the PV and the anime. Other cast members include Kent Itō as Kōtarō Ogawa and Kenjiro Tsuda as Mitsueda.
The manga's main story ended on February 2, 2026, followed by seven spin-off chapters released through August 3, 2026. Twelve tankōbon volumes had been released by June 2026. Comikey publishes the series in English, and Viz Media announced it would release volumes starting in Q2 2025.
The anime was announced on January 12, 2026. Directed by Takahiro Kamei at David Production, with series composition by Yūko Kakihara, character designs by Yukiko Aikei, and music by Nogrid. It premieres on October 9, 2026, on Fuji TV's Noitamina block. The ending theme is "Yumegokochi" by Tooboe. Crunchyroll will stream the series, and Muse Communication licensed it for Southeast Asia.
A voice comic for the first volume was released on June 19, 2023, on Flower Comics' YouTube channel, featuring Yui Ishikawa and Koki Uchiyama. A commercial and PV for the second volume followed on September 12, 2023, with Uchiyama reprising his role.
By September 2025, the series had 4 million copies in circulation. It ranked fifth in the Tsutaya Comic Award, ninth in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide for female readers, and won the grand prize at NTT Solmare's Digital Comic Awards in 2024.
