Splitting Adam (film)

Plot

Adam Baker has a lot on his plate. He works multiple summer jobs, including a gig with his best friend Sheldon on the P.E.E. patrol at the local water park, Crash n' Splash. He also has a crush on lifeguard Lori Collins, but gets mocked by Vance Hansum when he tries to pass his lifeguard test, still haunted by the time his swim trunks got stuck in the pool filter. When Adam's parents head off for a week-long vacation, he and his sister Gillian are left with their Uncle Mitch, a struggling magician called 'Magic Mitch' who owns a broken tanning bed he keeps in his van.

One night, Adam is playing video games with Sheldon and another friend, Danny. It turns out Sheldon tricked Gillian into playing hide-and-seek two hours earlier and never looked for her. The three boys go searching, and Adam checks the garage. He stumbles onto Mitch's tanning bed, but Gillian startles him, causing him to fall inside.

The door traps him, and the machine activates. When Adam finally gets out, he heads to bed but collapses on the way. The next morning, he wakes up to find a clone lying in bed beside him. Shocked, he explains "Adam #2" to Sheldon and Danny, revealing the tanning bed is actually a cloning machine.

His friends convince him to use the clone to his advantage: Adam goes to the park while Adam #2 mows the neighbor's lawn. Later, at a meeting, Sheldon tricks Adam into volunteering to help Lori organize a fundraiser to save Crash n' Splash from its money troubles. When they get home, they find that Danny and Adam #2 have made another clone, named Winston, from Adam #2. Because Winston is a copy of a copy, he has lower intelligence, but he's there to help with the chores.
