Newcastle West End
The short-lived club that paved the way for Newcastle United at St. James' Park.
Newcastle West End F.C. was a football club formed in August 1882 from West End Cricket Club. In May 1886, the club moved into St. James' Park. The club became a rival of Newcastle East End in the Northern League. Newcastle West End eventually fell into serious financial trouble and approached Newcastle East End with a view to a takeover. The club was dissolved, and a number of its players and backroom staff joined Newcastle East End, with Newcastle East End taking over the lease on St. James' Park in May 1892.
