Playing career

Born in Selkirk, Manitoba, Morrison began senior hockey with the Selkirk Fishermen in 1913. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force for the First World War in 1915 and, before deployment, played one season for the Winnipeg 61st Battalion, winning the Allan Cup in 1916. After his service ended in 1919, he played two more senior seasons with Selkirk (1919–20) and the Winnipeg Falcons (1920–21). Morrison joined the Edmonton Eskimos of the WCHL in 1921 and spent four seasons there. In 1923, the Eskimos won the WCHL title and faced the defending Stanley Cup champion Ottawa Senators in Vancouver; Morrison scored Edmonton's only goal of the best-of-three series, in the first game. He was traded to the New York Americans for the 1925–26 season, playing 18 NHL games without recording a goal or point. He then joined the Regina Capitals for 1926–27 and finished his career with six seasons in the American Hockey Association, including his final season in 1931–32 with the Duluth Hornets.
