Ethel the Frog (band)
New wave of British heavy metal band from Hull.
Formed in Hull, England in 1976, Ethel the Frog was a heavy metal band linked to the new wave of British heavy metal. Their odd name came from a Monty Python sketch about the Piranha Brothers. In 1978 they put out a heavy cover of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby," and later contributed "Fight Back" to a Metal for Muthas compilation. Their debut album, also called Ethel the Frog, arrived in 1980.
