Playing career

Crookshank began his junior hockey career with the Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). After his final BCHL season, he committed to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats program. Over three seasons with New Hampshire, he recorded 35 goals and 63 points in 90 games, earning a Third Team Hockey East All-Star selection in his final year. He was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round, 126th overall, of the 2018 NHL entry draft. Following his third collegiate season, Crookshank signed a three-year entry-level contract with Ottawa on March 17, 2021, and was immediately assigned to the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL). His 2021–22 season ended early after he suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury during training camp. Returning to Belleville for 2022–23, he led the team with 26 goals and recorded 47 points in 71 games, ranking fourth overall on the team. He began the 2023–24 season in the AHL and was recalled by Ottawa on December 16 after injuries to forwards Mathieu Joseph and Rourke Chartier. Crookshank made his NHL debut on December 17 in a 6–3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. In his second game, he scored his first NHL goal against Connor Ingram in a 4–3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes. He played seven games with Ottawa, scoring one goal and two points, before being returned to Belleville on January 7, 2024. Crookshank was named to the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic representing Belleville alongside Maxence Guenette. On March 1, he was named AHL Player of the Month for February after tallying eight goals and 14 points in 12 games. He finished the AHL season with 24 goals and 46 points in 50 games with Belleville. Recalled on March 21 in case Claude Giroux could not play due to illness, Crookshank made the lineup for the March 23 game against the New Jersey Devils, replacing Zack Ostapchuk. In his sixth game after the call-up, he suffered a lower-body injury in a game against the Minnesota Wild that ended his season.
