Los Ingobernables

The Ungovernables: Born in CMLL, branching to Japan.

Los Ingobernables (Spanish for "The Ungovernables") is a Mexican professional wrestling stable originally formed in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in April 2014 by La Máscara, Rush, and La Sombra. It became one of the top antagonistic groups in CMLL history. Through CMLL's working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Tetsuya Naito joined the stable in 2015, eventually forming an offshoot group named Los Ingobernables de Japón in the Japanese promotion.

Lore & Background

The group formed after Rush, La Máscara, and La Sombra attacked Volador Jr. and others on April 25, 2014, turning rudo but calling themselves "técnicos diferentes." Originally dubbed Los Indeseables, they were renamed Los Ingobernables. Key members included Marco Corleone, Pierroth, Rey Escorpión, and El Terrible. The stable ended in CMLL on September 27, 2019, when Rush and La Bestia del Ring departed. Rush later formed La Facción Ingobernable in AAA, ROH, and AEW. On March 24, 2021, CMLL re-established the group as Los Nuevos Ingobernables, led by El Terrible.

In Their Own Story

The Korakuen Hall lights dimmed to a deep amber. The crowd, a sea of painted faces and waving flags, fell into a hush that only the Tokyo crowd can produce. Then the bell rang, and the ring was no longer a square of canvas and steel—it was a plaza, a barrio, a place where the rules of the house did not apply. Tama Tonga, his long beard catching the spotlights, stood in the center of the ring with his arms folded, staring down the challenger the way a mountain stares down a storm. Behind him, Tama Tonga Jr. rolled his shoulders, grinning, already feeling the next move in his fingers. The ref raised his arms. The crowd roared. And for the next twenty minutes, the only law that mattered was the one written in sweat and steel, and it belonged to the Ungovernable.

Reader's Guide

Los Ingobernables originated in CMLL, not NJPW. The NJPW branch is a separate offshoot called Los Ingobernables de Japón. The stable had no official leader, though fans perceived Rush as the leader. Founding members were La Máscara, Rush, and La Sombra. Tama Tonga and Tama Tonga Jr. are not mentioned in the source as members of any branch.
