Plot

Set in the same San Francisco house still owned by Danny Tanner, the show centers on recently widowed veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller and her three young sons: 13-year-old Jackson, 7-year-old Max, and baby Tommy Jr. After her husband Tommy dies in a firefighting accident, D.J. moves back home. When Danny leaves for work, her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy—along with Kimmy's teenage daughter Ramona—move in to help raise the boys.

Production

In August 2014, reports emerged that Warner Bros. Television was considering a reboot. John Stamos, who had an ownership stake, led efforts to revive the series. Creator Jeff Franklin returned as showrunner alongside original executive producers Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett under Miller-Boyett Productions. In April 2015, Netflix was reported to be close to a deal for a 13-episode sequel tentatively titled Fuller House. After initial denials, Stamos confirmed the green-light on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on April 20, and Netflix confirmed development the next day. Filming ran from July to November 2015. The release date was revealed as February 26, 2016. Carly Rae Jepsen and Butch Walker recreated the original theme song "Everywhere You Look" for the series.

Metacritic gave it 35 out of 100, indicating generally unfavorable reviews. Dan Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter called it painful and mawkish, while David Weigand of the San Francisco Chronicle criticized the writing and canned laughter. Maureen Ryan of Variety noted the show's self-congratulatory tone. Verne Gay of Newsday gave a more positive review, calling it a winner for fans. The second season saw mixed reviews; IGN's Jenny Varner gave it 6.5/10, noting cringe-worthy jokes but heartwarming appeal. On Rotten Tomatoes, the second season has a 50% approval rating based on 6 reviews.
