Overview
The duo combined modern electronics, tape loops, and samplers with medieval instruments such as hurdy-gurdy, shawm, and Hexenscheit. Alzbeth served as primary vocalist, singing in Middle High German, Latin, and Old French, while Julius contributed distorted and backup vocals. Live performances took place in old churches, fortresses, medieval prisons, and theatres, featuring static, militaristic presentations. Early on, the band provided no official photographs or additional information beyond a Swiss mailing address inside albums; they rarely performed live or granted interviews, and songs had no official titles. After the split, both members became more vocal and released promotional images. Each release moved further into European history, becoming more martial, choral, and bombastic, culminating in the World War II-inspired album The Smell of Blood but Victory. All music was released on their own Arthur's Round Table label and distributed by World Serpent Distribution.
Post-Split
During the recording of The Smell of Blood but Victory, Julius released material under a side project called Der Blutharsch, which became his main project after the split. He later performed and released Der Blutharsch covers of TMLHBAC material he claimed was originally intended for that project. Alzbeth created an official TMLHBAC website and stated she would release material from her own musical project. In 2000, she published a hardback, cloth-bound book containing lyrics, photographs, and references to the band's historical themes. In 2004, likely due to World Serpent Distribution's bankruptcy and the catalogue going out of print, Alzbeth announced via her mailing list that she and Julius planned to rerelease their back catalogue.
