List of races televised
In the 1990 Daytona 500, Dale Earnhardt appeared headed for victory until a series of late-race events. On the restart, Earnhardt retook the lead but punctured a tire on lap 199 after driving over a piece of metal from Rick Wilson's failed engine.
Cope drove past for his first Cup Series victory, one of two he earned in 1990. KIRO-TV, the local CBS affiliate in Cope's hometown of Spanaway, Washington, pre-empted the race for a Seattle SuperSonics basketball game, delaying the broadcast until 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
SportsChannel America began its coverage in 1990, broadcasting events such as the Roses Stores 200 and the Chevy Dealers of New England 250. TBS aired the Richmond spring race from 1983 to 1995, as well as fall races at Rockingham (1985-1987), Atlanta (1983-1985), and Riverside (1982-1987). TBS also televised postseason exhibition races in Japan at Suzuka Circuit and Twin Ring Motegi from 1996 to 1998. Prime Network was the first to regularly televise Winston Cup qualifying races, mainly for events that would air on TBS.
After SETN folded, one Pocono race per year was produced by Jim Wiglesworth on pay-per-view for Viewer's Choice (later In Demand) from 1988 to 1990. These broadcasts were not a huge success, as fans were reluctant to pay for what they could see for free the previous week. The Viewer's Choice shows were notable for premiering viewer phone-in questions during the races.
