Production

NBC ordered the series as a pilot in January 2020, the first drama given a pilot order for the 2020–21 season. Jason Hoffs joined J. H. Wyman as co-executive producer. The pilot was picked up to series on June 29, 2020. Jonathan Tucker was cast as the male lead in February 2020, followed by Riann Steele as the female lead. Norbert Leo Butz joined the main cast that same month. Anjali Jay was cast in a recurring role in October 2020, Gabrielle Ryan in December 2020, Scroobius Pip as a main cast member in January 2021, and Sebastian Roché in a recurring role in February 2021. Most of the pilot was filmed before production was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming for the rest of the first season took place from November 2, 2020 to April 9, 2021, in Vancouver, British Columbia. The airport hangar scene in the first episode was filmed at the Heritage Hangar at Boundary Bay Airport in Delta, British Columbia. Many outdoor scenes were filmed around Delta, Ladner, and Surrey areas of British Columbia. The series was canceled on May 27, 2021.

The critical consensus states that the central mystery has enough sci-fi appeal to keep viewers engaged for at least one season. On Metacritic, the series has a weighted average score of 63 out of 100 based on 11 critic reviews, indicating generally favorable reviews. Saloni Gajjar of The A.V. Club gave the series a B−, noting that the actors do not yet carry the emotional weight of the show and suggesting it should rely on the power of the titular space junk.
