Background

The Errinundra National Park is a place of extremes. In the drier months, visitors can access the majority of the park, but in winter, rain and snow generally make the unsealed roads impassable. The park's dominant vegetation communities include cool and warm temperate rainforest, wet open forest, montane forests and woodlands, along with a sub-alpine wetland. However, the park's boundaries have not always been respected. There have been some instances of logging within the national park's boundaries due to administrative errors, and extensive logging of all forest types surrounding the park, including Brown Mountain forest, has occurred. Additionally, logging occurred in many areas before the national park was established.
