Background
Mollekens' career took off in 1992 when he swept all three Formula Ford titles he entered: Benelux, Dutch, and Belgian. That success carried into 1993 with a strong British Formula Ford season, which opened doors to the Formula Opel Euroseries in 1994 and the British Formula 3 Championship in 1995. He stayed in British F3 for 1996, and that year he scored his biggest win—the international Formula Three race at Zandvoort. In 1997, Mollekens moved to Formula 3000, driving for two seasons with his own team, Keerbergs Transport Racing.
After stepping out of the cockpit in 1999, he continued running the team while driving for Peugeot in the Belgian Pro Car Series. He kept the F3000 team going until 2001, then returned as a driver for some FIA GT Championship races in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, his team left Formula 3000 for the World Series by Nissan, later the World Series by Renault, competing there until 2008. After a hiatus, KTR planned a return in 2009 in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. Mollekens also drove part of the 2004 European Touring Car Championship.
