Sudden Impact (truck)

Teal Ford F-150 driven by John Michael Seasock.

Last updated

Sudden Impact is a monster truck originally built as a red Ford F-150 with leaf springs. It was driven by John Michael Seasock, who later renamed the Storm Warning vehicle to Sudden Impact and gave it a teal paint scheme. The truck helped Seasock become one of the more well-known driver-truck combinations on the USHRA Monster Jam circuit.

Career

Seasock got into monster trucks after watching Bigfoot perform at the Philadelphia Spectrum. He became a full-time driver in 1990, piloting his first Sudden Impact, a red leaf-sprung Ford F-150. During the mid-1990s, he drove for various teams, including a run in Devil’s Dodge, before acquiring the Storm Warning truck and renaming it Sudden Impact.

This was the first version to feature the well-known teal paint scheme. He drove that truck until 1999, when he bought the Liquidator from Bob Fisher and again renamed it Sudden Impact. Over its life, that truck underwent many updates and paint changes, and it propelled Seasock to fame on the USHRA Monster Jam circuit, earning him four World Finals appearances.

In 2004, his team joined Chiller Motorsports to create Sudden Impact Racing. Seasock then left Sudden Impact to drive T-Maxx. He returned to Sudden Impact for the 2006 winter season but departed the team that April.

Trademarks

Seasock's freestyle runs in Sudden Impact are fast-paced but restrained, avoiding many wild hits. He scores consistently with big jumps, slap wheelies, and donuts. His trademark move is the "roof walk," where he stands on the moving truck's roof to wave at fans. Off the track, he regularly chats with fans online and enjoys riding street bikes.
