The band name "Darkestrah" combines "dark" and "orchestra", but drummer Asbath stated there is a hidden meaning only for initiates.[1][2] Asbath is a co-founder and drummer of the band.[2]
Making and release
The first Kyrgyz incarnation of Darkestrah recorded both demos and the first album.[2] The band considers "Khagan" a full album.[2] In 2016, a split with Al-Namrood and the album Turan were both released.[3] In 2019, a 5-CD boxed set titled 20th Anniversary Chronicles of Nomadic Conquest was co-released by Casus Belli Musica and Beverina Productions.[3]

Individuals who initially performed live as session musicians later became new members.[2] Vinyl editions of Epos and The Great Silk Road have been put out by Shaythan Productions.[3]
What the cited sources add
The box set was limited to 100 copies and contained a patch and certificate of authenticity.[4] Each album in the box set had its own six-panel digipack with new artwork.[4] Asbath stated that the band carries a nomadic spirit and feels the need to travel.[2] Asbath stated that a new album would almost certainly not come out in 2014, and the priority was performing live.[2]
The interview mentioned that the band would celebrate its 15th anniversary in the following year.[2]
