Plot

Gloria hires a Spanish tutor, Diego, for Manny despite Manny wanting to learn French. Jay is indifferent until he sees Diego, a good-looking man, talking to Gloria in Spanish, which Jay cannot understand. Jay signs a permission slip for Manny to switch to French and fires Diego. Gloria, upset, explains she is tired of not being able to speak her native language with others in the house. Jay rehires Diego, this time for himself, delighting Gloria.

Phil notices Alex is not sleeping enough due to a test; Claire tells him not to worry and instead to focus on Haley, who seems aimless. Phil argues Haley is finding herself. Andy frequently visits the house, and when Claire asks what they are doing, Haley says they are having sex to avoid the conversation. Actually, they are helping each other with job interviews; both get jobs: Andy as Phil's assistant and Haley as assistant to celebrity stylist Gavin Sinclair.

Cam and Mitch meet local TV reporter Anne Gibbs at a dinner party. Mitch wants a story about his human rights case, but Anne is interested in Cam as an openly gay high school football coach. Mitch supports Cam by agreeing to a pancake breakfast at school, but eventually takes a stand when Cam seems inattentive. Cam realizes his mistake, goes to court to watch Mitch work, and in the final interview with Anne talks about Mitch and his work instead of his team's win.

Reception

In its original American broadcast, the episode was watched by 9.83 million viewers, down by 0.09 from the previous episode. Leigh Raines of TV Fanatic awarded 5/5, calling it another "The Cam Show" episode but noting Cam begins to realize he needs to share the spotlight.
