"Me? Jealous?" is the 14th episode of the third season of the American sitcom Modern Family and the series' 61st episode overall. It aired on February 8, 2012, was written by Ben Karlin, and directed by Michael Spiller.

The episode centers on jealousy and misunderstandings among the Dunphys and Pritchetts, with guest star Greg Kinnear as Tad. In its original American broadcast, it was watched by 12.90 million viewers, up 1.01 million from the previous episode. The episode received mixed reviews, with critics noting fresh pairings and strong character motivations, though some found it average or lacking in laughs.

Plot

Phil invites a prospective client named Tad to his home to discuss selling Tad's house. Tad kisses Claire on the lips when greeting and departing, which Claire finds inappropriate, but Phil dismisses her concern. The next day Tad invites the couple to his home and again kisses Claire. At Tad's home, Claire notices he kisses every woman that way, including family members, so she relaxes and enjoys his jokes, which now bothers Phil.

Meanwhile, Haley lied on her college applications about being a Big Sister, so her parents force her to join Big Brothers Big Sisters. The sisters argue, and Luke angrily intervenes, saying both were bad big sisters to him. This reminds Alex and Haley of dressing up Luke when they were younger, which Luke dislikes. Elsewhere, Cam and Mitch stay with Jay and Gloria while their house is fumigated.

Cam rearranges the kitchen, upsetting Gloria, while Gloria takes Lily shopping and fixes her hair, upsetting Cam. Jay jokes about Mitch's job, and when Mitch has a meeting with radio DJ Booker Bell, whom Jay admires, Jay appears uninvited. Mitch asks Jay to leave. Manny observes the tension and tells stories about a friend named Danielle to help the adults see they are not intentionally upsetting each other. They eventually resolve their differences.

Reception

In its original American broadcast, the episode was watched by 12.90 million viewers, up 1.01 million from the previous episode. The episode received mixed reviews. Meredith Blake from The A.V. Club gave a B+, noting she liked when the show paired characters who do not usually share a storyline, as it generates fresh ideas and reminds viewers the characters have individual relationships. Leigh Raines of TV Fanatic gave 4/5, stating the episode shook things up by taking familial squabbles to new territory.

Hallie Cantor of Split Sider said the episode was full of fun plotlines with strong character motivations, and that the focus on jealousy felt fresh, with Manny as MVP for using allegories about his friend Danielle. Carlos Uribe from TV Liar called it a good episode with a common theme of jealousy and misunderstandings, filled with great gags, and praised Greg Kinnear as a good guest star. Nick from The Signal said it was not un-funny, and though not the year's strongest, it was above-average for the series.

Christine N. Ziemba from Paste Magazine gave 7.8/10, calling the episode average overall, appreciating the dynamic between Gloria and Cam as petty without being annoying, but criticizing the blatant copying of an SNL skit.
