Claw Service

Lore & Background

The conflict highlights the divide between those who use their gifts for control and those who value human connection. While Service members possess formidable abilities, they lack the emotional maturity that Mob gains through his daily struggles. Reigen Arataka plays a crucial role as an intermediary, using deception to protect Shigeo from being consumed by Claw's agenda.

Reader's Guide

The narrative begins with Shigeo Kageyama navigating high school life while suppressing immense psychic power. His mundane existence is disrupted when the organization Claw identifies him as a valuable asset. Specifically, the Service branch attempts to recruit or eliminate obstacles in their path. Reigen Arataka, a con-artist exorcist, becomes entangled in this conflict to protect his client and reputation. Tension escalates as psychic confrontations threaten the city. Shigeo struggles with the morality of using his abilities versus living normally. He faces members who believe psychics are superior to humans. The arc culminates in a showdown against Dimple, a high-ranking member seeking redemption through power. Ultimately, Shigeo rejects the organization's ideology. He chooses to protect friends rather than dominate enemies with overwhelming force. This resolution establishes the core theme: emotional growth matters more than raw strength. Reigen gains genuine respect for his student during this trial. The threat of Claw remains, but Service is neutralized as a direct force.
