History
LUX Fight League was established on July 21, 2017, by Mexican entrepreneur Joe Mendoza. That same day, the promotion held its first event in Tampico, Tamaulipas, where veteran Mexican fighter Efraín Escudero defeated Brazilian Bruno Murata. The second event took place on February 17, 2018, at Mexico City’s Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera. While the debut card had only four bouts, this one featured nine. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020, LUX 009 was moved to the Showcenter Complex in Monterrey and held without spectators, after originally being set for April 3. The following event, LUX 010, marked a return for live audiences, though capacity was limited to curb infections. It became the first sporting event in Mexico to reopen its doors to the public since the pandemic began. In February 2024, Mendoza and the UFC reached a multinational deal that brought LUX events to the UFC Fight Pass streaming service. The first broadcast under this agreement was LUX 040, headlined by a welterweight clash between Raúl Zaragoza and Anuar Aburto. In 2025, LUX launched Streamers Smash, a tournament where eight amateur fighters compete in a single-elimination bracket, each guided by a streamer in their corner. The winner earns a contract with the promotion.
