Divided We Fall (novel)

Divided We Fall is a military science-fiction novel by Trent Reedy, published in 2014 as the first book of a trilogy. Set in a near-future United States, it follows seventeen-year-old Idaho National Guard member Danny Wright, whose accidental rifle discharge during a protest in Boise triggers a massacre and eventually a Second American Civil War. The novel was noted for its plausible setup and intermittent action.
