Music video
The video opens with the introductory saxophone riff as Glenn Frey sits in his New York apartment, looking out the window and smoking; he does not sing during the entire video. A woman elsewhere prepares for a night out, and Miami Vice plays on her television—a pattern repeated whenever a television appears. Frey leaves and walks through the city, his journey intercut with scenes of New York nightlife. He nearly gets run over by the woman's taxi, then later sees her through a pub window. Inside, she brushes off another man's advances while Frey watches but does not approach. He gets up to leave, but she catches him hailing a taxi, and they walk to her place together. The video cuts to Frey leaving her high-rise the next morning. The final shot shows him at Carl Schurz Park, tossing a cigarette into the East River. Two versions exist: one with Miami Vice intercuts and one without.
